Essex Cottage Farms’ nutrient-rich mixes allow you to choose your own meats & veggies, while feeding a balanced diet of fresh food. This is very helpful for dogs with diagnosed or suspected “gastric” sensitivities to certain ingredients.
You can make each batch with different meats & veggies that are in season (that are NOT suspected to cause problems for your pet), to give your dog variety in their diet… it’s not “natural” for a canine to eat the exact same food every day.
Fast and easy to mix up; you can make a batch fresh daily, weekly or monthly; this food freezes well. There is no need to worry about meticulous measuring or having exotic ingredients on hand; you can buy everything you need at the grocery store. YOU get to choose what is best for your individual dog & your budget.
Designed for dogs with digestive issues; this recipe should be fed as a cooked diet (not raw).

Essex Cottage Farms Gastro Health Food Mix
INGREDIENTS: Human grade stone ground: whole brown rice, whole ground apple, whole sprouted barley, pure Acadian sea kelp, whole ground carob beans, calcium carbonate, whole ground almonds, ground ginger root, parsley.
SAMPLE RECIPE: For a single batch (one 9”x13” baking dish or two 8”x8”), you will need:
- 5 cups of “G” base mix
- 1 cup Pumpkin or Sweet Potato (pureed)
- 1 cup Green beans (pureed)
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Pure Alfalfa
- 1/4 cup Sunflower oil
- 2 raw Eggs
- 1 1/2 - 2 cups water
- 4 cups (2 lb) regular or med* Ground Beef (*use lean for EPI or Pancreatitis)
- 1/2 cup Salmon (canned is fine)
